On June 6, 2019, thebreakthrough ceremony of the main headrace tunnel of Brodlands Hydropower Project contracted by CNEEC was successfully held in Sri Lanka. Mr. Wu Guisheng, the Vice President of CNEEC, and Mr. Jayawardena, Chairman of the Client - the Ceylon Electricity Board jointly pressed down the blasting button to launch the blast for the breakthrough of the main headrace tunnel, celebrating the special moment of the project construction.
The Broadland Hydropower Project is located at the junction of the Maskeliya oya and Kehelgamu oya in Sri Lanka. The main power plant is equipped with two Francis generating units with a total installed capacity of 35MW. The engineering and geological condition of this project is extremely complicated with almost all aspects of Hydropower industry covered and it could be taken as a model project for future hydropower engineering.
