On December 29, 2021, the front-end costs under the financing agreement of CNEEC Inga 2 Hydropower Plant Overhaul and Renovation Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) were confirmed, and all the prerequisites for the financing closure of the project were fulfilled, marking that the project would enter the formal implementation stage. The contract value of the project is 214 million Euros and the unit capacity reaches 178MW, which is a milestone in the field of hydropower plant renewal and technical renovation.
The project consists of eight units, among which CNEEC will be responsible for the rehabilitation and renovation of four units and auxiliary equipment in whole or in part to restore their power generation capacity and achieve smooth, safe and efficient operation. Upon completion, the project will largely alleviate the current power shortage in the DRC, promote local economic development and improve people's livelihood.
