On November 22, under the full supervision of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), the Songkhla Waste-to-Energy Project in Thailand being built by China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC) completed a 24-hour full-load, grid-connected operation test. The unit output met and exceeded contract requirements, with all performance indicators remaining stable.
The generator unit completed load rejection tests at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% load levels, as well as the island operation test, all at the first attempt. Flue gas emissions met all requirements, complying with Thai environmental standards, which are even more stringent than those of the EU.
The successful implementation of this project has attracted widespread attention across Southeast Asia. Representatives from Vietnamese and Malaysian companies have visited the project site to gain an in-depth understanding of the plant’s technical solutions, construction processes, and operational models, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in green energy, particularly in the waste-to-energy sector, throughout the region.

Building on the outstanding performance of CNEEC in the Songkhla project, the client TPI has conducted in-depth discussions with the company regarding the Songkhla phase II project and other upcoming waste-to-energy projects, while advancing future cooperation.
