On December 1, Yan Weihua, General Manager of China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC), met with Mohamed Abdellahi El Vilaly, Mauritanian Ambassador to China, and his delegation. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritania. The Ambassador’s special visit demonstrated the great importance and strong support of the Mauritanian government and embassy for cooperative projects undertaken by CNEEC in Mauritania.

Yan Weihua briefed Ambassador El Vilaly on CNEEC’s development history, core business areas, global performance, and key projects, presenting the company’s comprehensive strengths in power engineering and new energy. The Ambassador expressed sincere gratitude for CNEEC’s warm reception. He highlighted Mauritania’s current economic development, energy resources, and vast market potential. He said that the Mauritanian government welcomes CNEEC’s sustained commitment to developing the local market and expanding cooperation in multiple fields, thereby extending the profound friendship between China and Mauritania and their peoples through pragmatic cooperation.

Yan Weihua said that CNEEC has always valued the traditional friendship between China and Mauritania. As a core strategic market for the company's overseas operations, Mauritania hosts the 60 MW dual-fuel power plant currently under construction—a project that has become a benchmark for CNEEC’s entry into the local market. This initiative represents not only a significant breakthrough in the company’s deep engagement with the local power sector, but also a key step in elevating China-Mauritania energy cooperation to new heights. With continued increase in its resource commitment, CNEEC will keep the Ambassador updated on project progress and look forward to his continued support.

Yan Weihua added that as a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach), CNEEC has gained rich experience and delivered strong project performance in the energy sector, with capabilities spanning the entire value chain. Building on the high-quality completion of existing projects, the company will leverage its strengths to support Mauritania’s energy infrastructure upgrading and economic and social development. At the same time, the company will capitalize on Sinomach’s expertise in agricultural machinery and align with the needs of local agricultural development to explore new paths for cooperation in agricultural equipment and technologies, further expanding the scope of China-Mauritania cooperation and elevating the bilateral economic and trade cooperation to new heights.

This meeting further cemented communication and mutual trust between CNEEC and the Mauritanian government and its embassy in China. The two sides will continue to deepen practical cooperation in all fields to pursue common development.
